Day #?
Slow to update. Today was Nicolae's 3rd birthday!
His training is going well and we've switched from little potty chair to using the big toilet, and tonight we bought him a seat for it! Much easier for him than sitting on the seat without. He almost fell in!
Lately it's been no accidents except for today when we had 2 poopy ones. But not full on. Just little bits.
We went out for 3 hours with no accidents though! He even got to play games and be a big boy with his training. I still wonder what his reaction will be to a urinal.
He woke up with a dry diaper too, which was awesome! My husband asked if I was going to put him in underwear tonight but that's jumping the gun a little. Maybe if he stays dry consistently for a week or so we'll switch him over to undies.

Day Fourteen
Day fourteen. That means 2 weeks! Two weeks with only having diapers at night (except that one time we went out all day).
Today I learned something. Potty training toddlers can be mean. Sure it's all high-fives and good jobs, but if you cross them while they need to go to the potty, watch out.
Nic was standing at the big potty (porcelain, adult toilet) for 5 minutes without doing anything... just holding himself. Well I had to pee..... I directed him toward his little potty and he yelled at me! He didn't want to sit to pee but I really had to go! When I finally got him to sit down (because there is no way he's going to stand up and pee with that little toilet) he went instantly. Awesome.
After that he refused to talk to me for about 30 minutes.
No accidents.

Day Thirteen
We had a minor accident today but he ran to the bathroom himself!
Just look at the progress he's made!
I always asked him if he had to go, even if he said no, I'd take him. Now I ask and he'll say yes or no. Minimal accidents. He's more aware of his body....
Except today we were in and out all morning because he kept saying he had to poop. He did.... after like the 5th time. All in a row. We were in and out.... then back in quickly.
Our next step will be getting out of night time diapers. Though only having one diaper a day from him has cut down my wash load a lot!

Day Twelve
I'm failing at keeping up with this.
He's doing pretty well though. Only a few accidents here and there. Most of the time it's a poopy accident.
He also doesn't want to go back to diapers and complains about it at night when he has to wear them. Sometimes he stalls at bedtime by saying he has to go potty!

Day Seven (Part 3)
Only one accident today!
I was going to put him in a diaper so that I could take him with me across town but he said no and that he wanted to wear his undies, so the husband said I could leave him home.
I really think we're getting somewhere!

Day Seven (Part 2)
Another big step today! Nic just told me that he had to potty! He's finally recognizing the urge to go!
Day Seven
I woke up to a crying Nic and a yelling husband. Nic accidentally wet one of the dining room chairs. Personally, I was waiting for that to happen. Alright, so one accident down this morning.
Husband was watching Nic a little later and said "I don't trust you. Potty, now." Then they spent a good 30 minutes sitting there (husband reading a book) before they came out victoriously announcing that Nic went poop in the potty!
That's a first and I'm very happy about it!

Day Six
I'd like to start off by saying we had absolutely NO ACCIDENTS today!!!!!
Unfortunately some of the day was spent in a diaper since we went to the museum and the library for a few hours but with travel time and all the time spent there he only wet half of the gCloth insert! (For those who know about gDiapers and gCloth, they don't hold very much but they're easy to use when you're on the go.)
Lately when I ask Nic if he's done going potty he'll say no and he sits there for a while longer so I'm thinking that may be a good sign too!

Day Five
It's still pretty early in the day but we're off to a great start. Only one accident so far and it was very minor! He says "ew" if he wets himself a little but waits for one of us to tell him to go to the bathroom.
He just ran in here pointing at his undies and saying "wet!" I check him and he was dry.... Asked if he had to go potty and he said no..... I still have to take him there so this will be a short update.

Day Four
Not particularly a bad day. I left again and this time hubby with the kids again but when I returned, Nic was still in his underwear! Awesome!
Still learning when we feel like we have to go potty but getting better!
Only three accidents!

Day Three
Our day isn't over with but I have a little free time since my husband put both of the boys in the bath together. A rare but very welcome event.
Today started off late, he stayed in his diaper until almost 11 due to people going into the bathroom constantly and I couldn't get the potty seat or his undies out!
When he was finally in his undies I was getting ready to go to the store. I told my brother to take Nic to the bathroom periodically since he wasn't wearing a diaper. My brother freaked out and told me to put a diaper on him! Really? That defeats the purpose of what I was doing.
I left and my husband had both of the kids. I called him a bit later and found out Nic had an accident around 1:30(poopy, ew!) and he just stuck him in a diaper because Nic was fighting with him. When I got home I changed him back into undies.
Only a short while ago did he have another accident. Another poopy. Right now we're working on figuring out when he has to go poopy, because he can pee on demand.

Day Two
Today was a little slow. He was doing well this morning. Small accident and he ran right off to the bathroom. Then after having to drag him back inside after fighting with him to get off the tricycle he had another. Turned into a big puddle on the floor. We're not going to be doing much trike riding during potty training anymore. Poor kid never wants to come inside!
Lots of fighting today. Probably because it's a weekend so Grandpa is here.
We ended the day with 6 accidents, no poopy ones! But majority of the accidents were very minor which is a very good thing!

Day One
Starting at 11:00 a.m. I had Nic pick out which undies he was going to wear today! He picked the boats. Not what I was expecting since he had Wall-E and some boxers to choose from too, but hey, it was his choice!
My husband and the younger baby went on a day trip into town while we started. I confined the two of us to a non-carpeted area of the house with books, games, a DVD player, snacks, drinks, and of course, the potty seat. He's sitting on the dining room chair and to be honest, I'm worried.
Every 10 minutes or so (periodically) I asked if he had to go to the bathroom. I mean, he's already downed twice as much liquid as I had and I already had to go! He says no. "Are you sure?" "NO!"
A bit later I saw him grunting and tapping his tushie, a usual ritual for when he has to go poop. I asked if he had to go to the potty again, he said no. I had him sit on the potty for a while... about 20 minutes. He finally peed. Just when my husband and baby came home. Great timing.
So far he'd gone without peeing for 4 hours! Same underwear, no accidents. That has to be a record for pint sized bladders.
Within the next hour though he did end up having a poop accident with a very minimal amount of pee. He got new underwear after that and took more potty breaks but only if I had him go sit there.
Pretty good for the first day.

Background
We recently decided that potty training had to happen. My son, Nicolae, is pretty smart but I admit he is behind in some areas. Well, he's turning 3 in just a few weeks and thought it was time to really try this again.
A bit of background: we started potty training when he was 19 months old. He liked the seat but it was a bit of a slow start. He'd go once a week when he was doing good, otherwise it'd be months between. Which is fine, he wasn't ready. My parents and other family members kept saying he was old enough, he was ready, he should be trained by 2.
Skip some time forward, his birthday has passed and now he has a new baby brother! The doctor said that he'd regress if he hasn't already. So far it seems that he's fine with the nightly routine that is sitting on the potty before bath time. Now he goes almost every single night.
To be honest, I never thought the boy was ready. It was my instinct I suppose but I was confused and tired. All I'd ever heard was that they should be trained by this age or that age.
Look for the signs and you'll know.
Tomorrow, we're starting.
